There's nothing wrong with that. I have a fair amount of investment tied up that way myself. But the truth is that neither UK property values or equities aren't likely to do anything terribly exciting any time soon.
In Eastern Europe, though, it's a very different story.

My name's Darren Goodson. I'm 32 years old and I live in London.
I've been buying property in the UK since 1995. I wasn't a guy who started with incredible amounts of money. I'm a guy who started with about £1000, used it as a deposit on a flat, bought some more flats along the way and now own a UK property portfolio worth about £3m.
In the 10 years I've been at it, I've learned a lot about buying rental property and letting it out. But the UK no longer offers investors like me, or you, the chance to make big profits.
In the newly expanded EU, though, across Eastern Europe, the price of property is still a fraction of the cost of similar properties in other European capitals.
On 1st May 2004 the following Eastern European countries joined the EU;
- Poland
- Czech Republic
- Latvia
- Lithuania
- Slovakia
- Hungary
- Slovenia...
...however, in one country in particular the property boom is bigger, more sustainable and is underpinned by more positive economic indicators than any other Eastern European country.
That country is Estonia.
At this moment in time, we are looking at a property market where prices absolutely HAVE TO soar.
That's the kind of opportunity you've always wanted to spot, isn't it?
Over the last 18 months, I've bought 6 properties in the city of Tallinn. Each one cost not much more than £60,000, and most times I used a simple financing model that you could use just as easily, to buy without using much or any of your own funds.
My friends and colleagues have watched me buy these properties. As their value has started to climb, they've taken more and more interest. Three properties that I bought off-plan at the end of 2005, which won't even be completed until the end of 2007, have already increased in value by around 40%. My expectation is that the value of property in Estonia is going to keep on rising steeply, year after year, until at least 2025.
What will the properties I'm buying, and that you could buy now for £60,000 each, be worth by then?
If they go up at just 12% a year, which looks quite conservative, they'll each be worth around £500,000!!! Imagine you'd bought 2...or 3...or maybe even a dozen properties!
The local real estate agents are predicting growth for 2007 to be around 20-30%!
I've learned a lot of things about buying property in Estonia in the last couple of years.
Some of them cost me money to learn. Others cost me shoe leather, as I've tramped round Tallinn on countless trips getting to know the districts, streets, real estate agents, lawyers, customs and business practices involved in identifying and buying the best properties, and letting them out so that they pay for themselves...and even earn a profit...where their value is increasing.
